Namecheap hosts this website. Website requests may create technical logs containing an IP address, requested page, time, browser details and referring page. These logs support website operation and security; retention is controlled by the hosting service.
If you email us, your email address and message are used to handle that enquiry. Do not include sensitive personal information that is unnecessary for your request. The site does not offer public comments, visitor accounts or a newsletter signup.
Reading preferences and packing lists
The article reader may store your text-size preference, reading theme and packing-list selections in your browser’s local storage. These choices are not sent to our server by those tools. Clear this site’s stored data in your browser to remove them. Storage restrictions may prevent choices from being remembered.
The budget calculator operates in the page. The new field-guide calculator does not send your entered amounts to a server or save them after the page is closed.
Embedded maps and fonts
When an embedded OpenStreetMap map loads, your browser contacts its services. OpenStreetMap describes the technical information it receives in its privacy policy. Some guides offer Google Maps as an alternative; choosing it connects to Google. Outbound map links connect to their destination when followed.
The field-guide fonts are served with this website’s own assets. Some map embeds contact Google; Google’s privacy policy applies to those requests.

Some Viator links contain our affiliate identifier. Following one takes you to Viator, where its privacy, booking and tracking practices apply. Booking.com and publisher links are currently ordinary resource links. External sites can have different privacy practices from ours; review them before entering information or making a purchase.
